One of the most striking and amazing attribute about our Heavenly Father is his aspect of moving human hearts. God solves most of our human personal and relationship pains by moving hearts. He shows favor by moving hearts and also divinely moves our hearts to forgive others, to love others, be intimate with some and leave some out etc. It is God who blesses us with spouses by moving people’s hearts to fall in love with us. After wronging his brother and running away, time came for Jacob to return home. In this desperate hour when he was going to meet with his brother Esau, Jacob was humanly afraid. Here he was, a powerless and vulnerable man about to meet his brother who had become so powerful. Jacob must have prayed about it as he wrestled with God’s angel! He must have asked God to save him from his brother Esau. God did not kill Esau but he turned Esau’s heart from one full of bitterness to one full of compassion towards his brother. That’s how God who is an expert in moving hearts saved Jacob with his family. On the other hand and just as he moves our hearts to show compassion, mercy, favor and love, God is also an expert in spurning hearts for trouble. Remember David’s peaceful family? After he sinned, the prophet Nathan told David that God was about to raise trouble in his own family. David’s once peaceful and disciplined children started awful dramas. It’s like they changed overnight! Why? Because God is an expert in moving hearts. When you run away from him and do something behind his back, he has a way of getting you. A once was sweetheart becomes a terrible villain almost overnight! A great and promisingly home becomes a wreck and this is because God was ignored in the equation! What relationship do you think of as irredeemable? Where have you ignored God and you are tempted to feel safe and comfortable? Remember God is an expert in moving hearts. Soon he is moving some hearts for you!
“He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.” Malachi 4:6 NIV
