We are going through a time when keeping a commitment or honoring a promise is becoming rare. A time when people break their promises at will without any feeling of remorse. Trust has become rare because our words are hollow without any meaning attached to them. Besides all these is a God whose word is timeless and one generation after another have found refuge in his unchanging nature. We call God by so many names but often forget He is also a Covenant God who loves being involved in the lives of his children. In the scriptures, God shows himself as a covenant God. Numerous people tied themselves to God by way of a covenant and God was faithful to come through for them. When Jacob was running away from Esau his brother with nothing of his own and facing a dangerous and uncertain future ahead, he reached out to the Covenant God! When Childless Hannah could not bear the pains of barrenness, she reached out to the Covenant God. When Jephthah was unsure of victory in his battle with the Ammonites, he reached out to the Covenant God. God loves it when we tie our uncertain future to him. Are you down and there is no ray of hope ahead, reach out to the Covenant God. It takes faith to tie your future to God when you are down so that when He does it, you’ll know for certain that it is God who did it. He always performs his part of the bargain and we must be faithful to keep our word when God does his part. When you hit rock bottom, remember God is always the Rock at the bottom and you can reach out to him. Don’t say you’ve nothing because you’ve God. Reach out to God, tie that dream or distant dream with a covenant God. I have a testimony He did it for me and He can do it for you for He is a covenant God!
“Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear” Genesis 28:20 NIV
