The uncertain and uneven paths of this life once in a while weighs heavily on us and brings us down. Each of us has experienced low moments that left us wishing we can get a shoulder to lean on. Someone who can hold our hands and just assure us that it is going to be well. Challenges occasionally leave us wounded and bleeding and those are moments when we wish we can come across someone who can just understand our story. One of the main principle that we come across in the scriptures is that we get encouraged when we encourage others. The scriptural story of Joseph who encouraged fellow prisoners who were downcast when he himself was in a mess is a perfect example of what we can do to raise our spirits when we are discouraged. God comforts us so that we can comfort others and sometimes the greatest comfort we can give happen when we ourselves are uncomfortable. Where are you feeling down and who is God directing you to encourage? Who is God bringing your way to encouraged when you are in your worst shape? Go ahead and make a day for them. It will make a day for you too. There is no ministry to the sufferer like the sufferers ministry to others who are suffering. Look for someone to encourage today!
“In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.” 2 Corinthians 8:2 NIV
