Every sowing brings with it hope and anticipation of a bumper harvest. However there is a period within which patience must be exercised if the seeds sowed are to germinate, grow and mature. We don’t plant today and then tomorrow we are uncovering the seeds to check on the progress. Every wise farmer knows that doing that is aborting the harvest. The same principle applies to our sowing as believers. Jesus always exhorted his followers to do their acts of mercy such as giving, helping the poor, etc in private. Jesus advised that the left hand does not need to know what the right hand is doing. The problem with us today is that we don’t give the seed time to germinate in its privacy. We want to shout everywhere how generous and kind we are whereas Jesus warned that doing so means you will abort the real harvest. The moment you do good with expectations of been seen and celebrated by others, you forfeit the true reward that only comes from God. You sell short your blessing either for popularity, m fame or popularity. When you plant an act of kindness or Good, to not abort the harvest by drawing attention to yourself, give room for God who rewards in secret!
“so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:4 NIV
