We quite often tend to have some misconceptions about how God comes to our aid in helping us. But quite often in our desperate hours, the main key to unlocking our miracles is as simple as being able to show how desperately we want it. God will rarely visit us the way we expect him to and it’s when we think we understand him that he will demand of us to get messy. There was a Syrian general who thought he knew enough about the God of Israel. His misconceptions about God was One who just speaks a word or maybe respects our ideas about him. He had heard enough about God to know he is all powerful yes, but he did not know that we should never try to interpret him. Knowing about God is one thing, knowing Him is another. Naaman desperately needed healing from leprosy and so he went to Elisha carrying with him many gifts. He had enough seed to give or maybe to plant as we call it. To his shock the man of God did not even come to meet him. He asked him to go down to the river and get himself messy! What? Doesn’t this God have a sense of dignity? Doesn’t He know who I am? Nope! He doesn’t care! You must prove how desperately you need it. He was frustrated thinking he could understand God. Just like Mary and Martha thought of Him as a healer and not one who can raise from the dead. Don’t try to track his steps! Just rest on his faithfulness. If He demands it gets messy; submit to his will. Where are you frustrated because you thought you understood God? He does it, but his way! Just submit to him!
“But Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy.” 2 Kings 5:11 NIV
