Many of us knows what it means to give someone a riddle that you know the answer and enjoy watch them scratch their heads trying to figure it out. There is always some laughing moment in it as you end up getting all manner of funny answers. The scriptural account of Jesus asking his disciples to feed over 5,000 people is a good example of a riddle. The massive crowd had followed Jesus because of his life transforming teachings and healing ministry. The teaching stretched for a while until it became a bit late. The disciples started asking Jesus to dismiss the crowd because it was getting late and they had not eaten anything. Jesus in response challenged them to give them food. It’s interesting to note that Jesus waited until it appeared late. Many of the great things that God does for us happen when the situation appears to be deteriorating. Jesus did not ask them to give them food because He felt cornered by the situation but to test them for He knew what to do about it. It is not unusual for God to allow things to build up in our lives for which He has already figured out the solution. How often do we get overwhelmed by a situation that God has already figured out how to sort it? Where are you getting stressed by an impossible situation that God has already figured a way out? As long as you are busy looking for food to feed the multitude, you may miss on God’s instructions asking you to tell the crowd to sit down so that He can feed them. He never allows anything to deteriorate without having in mind what to do about it. Our walk with God is not meant to stress us but rather to give us surprise moments. Trust God with your stress and know that, a deteriorating situation could just be another riddle that God has given you to see what you will do. Surrender yourself in his arms and wait for his solution. He already knows what to do.
“He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.” John 6:6 NIV
