Don’t sweat the unknown!

Quite often in life we go through some things that we cannot understand and that leaves us with a lot of questions. Some difficult things that we go through and no matter how much we try to seek for answers, they remain mysterious puzzles that we cannot resolve. We often get sick, attacked, robbed, get into accidents or lose loved ones leaving us with a question of ‘why me’ that is difficult to resolve. Moses when addressing the Israelites in the scriptures told them that there are things that will always remain a mystery in life that we may never understand. He told them that they must leave with the acceptance that mysterious things that happen to us and appear hidden belongs to God. No matter how much we try to get answers to some painful things, there are things we shall never understand. This is because such belongs to God. He asked them to focus largely on the things that we know and which God has revealed to us for those belongs to us and our children. Instead of torturing ourselves seeking answers for what we do not know, God tells us that we can find peace in what He has been revealed to us. We may not understand why the relationship did not work but we can thank God that we are alive and have an opportunity to start afresh. We may not understand why our business did not survive with Covid 19 or why we lost our jobs but we can thank God for new opportunities He is bringing our way. No matter how much we try, we may never understand why our parents separated when we were young, why we were born in problematic families or struggled as children, why we were abused when young and so on. Those are things that are hidden from us. But we can occupy ourselves with the truth that we know and we have. Where is your life at at standstill because of something that happened and you can’t seem to progress? Where are you so much preoccupied with the pain of what happened ? How liberating can it be to you knowing that God knows what you don’t know and is in control? God is telling us there is freedom in admitting that there are things we shall never understand. The beauty of this truth is that what we know is enough for us and we are in no way inadequate because of what we don’t know. Trust God. He knows the reason behind every pain, wound or scar and we have the assurance that someday when we see him, we shall well understand!
“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭29:29‬ ‭NIV‬‬
