I enjoy driving as one of my favourite hobbies, but I’ve never been comfortable driving at night. Not that I am afraid of darkness but unless it’s a road am used to, I like driving when am sure there is good visibility. At night one can only drive the section of the road where they can see. Night driving is further complicated by other not so careful drivers who like blinding others with full light glares. However, one of the best lessons that night driving has taught me is that a walk with God in many instances is like driving at night. You have to learn to walk a step at a time not caring what lies in the far distance. You only have to drive the distance that is visible and with every corner you negotiate, the headlights will give you some additional distance to cover. Off course the drive is made more complicated by other brethren who keep banging at you or blinding you until you feel like quitting. As if that is not enough, occasionally you encounter bad roads that are ridden with temptations and sometimes some sharp corners of trials that must be negotiated carefully as you drive along. You have to trust your companion who calls himself the way, the truth and the life as much as his guiding is a short beam that only illuminates a step or two. You can’t have the whole journey figured out but as soon as you walk into the light that you have, it projects further for an additional step into the darkness. The secret of driving at night is to keep moving forward the visible distance. As you move forward, so is the light that illuminates your path to keep you from stumbling or causing accidents. Where are you feeling frustrated because you can’t figure your faith journey completely? Where do you wish you can know God’s full purpose for your life? Where do you wish God can give you the whole map of your life? Don’t be consumed with knowing what is at the end of the tunnel that you miss your next step is. If you will walk in the light that God gives you for the moment he will give you the light you need for the next step.
