We are living at a time when the virtue of hard work is almost becoming obsolete. People are getting used to freebies where they are pursuing free things without having to work for them. This is giving way to a begging culture where people who are even physically enabled do not fund it difficult to leave on the sweat of others. Those who want to spiritualize things will often call it waiting onGod. A closer look at the scriptures however will reveal that genuine faith is active. Faith is not a passive word but rather an active word or what we call an adjective. All the words that are used to describe faith in Hebrews Chapter 11 are active doing words. There is nothing in the scriptures to suggest that faith is tantamount to idleness. In actual fact, faith without works is termed as dead in itself. Each moment when God put his followers into a faith moment, He would always demand they take an active role. When the Israelites were crossing the Jordan into the promised land, God instructed the Levite’s carrying the ark of the covenant to step into the water for River Jordan to give way. This is called the principle of divine cooperation where God demands we take a step of faith for him to act. It’s not a question of sitting in the house saying we are waiting on God in prayer. God expects us to go out there and He will meet with us on the way. It’s when we are going that we get healed and even in things that we do not understand, it’s when we take the first step of obedience that God makes things clear. Where are you using faith as a coverup for laziness? Where are you expecting God to do everything even what is in your ability to do? Where are you taking Gods name in vain by not doing what He would expect you to do? It’s true God provides for the birds of the air but He never puts the food in their mouth. They have to go out there and gather. Do your part and wait to see God do his part!
