God of bitter waters!

Some of the most tempting opportunities comes our way when we are going through the very challenging stretches of our lives. It’s when things are tough that you get someone promising a multi million contract although in many instances such promises tend to be dubious deals. This reminds me of the scriptural account of the Israelites journey through the wilderness. Immediately they got into the wilderness, the scriptures says they went for three days without water. When they were just about to give up, they spotted some water across their path that revived their hopes. Unfortunately for them when they tried drinking the water, it turned out to be bitter. This was a double tragedy for these thirsty people. It would have been better for them not to come across any water than have water they could not drink. I may never understand why many times the water that crosses our paths during difficult moments tends to be bitter, but I know in whatever happens to us God wants us to trust him. What waters have you come across during this Corona Virus season but to your disappointment, its all bitter? What was so promising but then ended up crashing your hopes or turned out to be another mirage? Where are you frustrated because you cannot seem to understand what God is doing in your bitter circumstances? When waters turn bitter in your desert, trust Him. It’s always an indication that the cure for your thirst is nearby. God wants to see if you can trust Him. Just like Moses had to consult God, do it and if need be, take a branch of faith and throw it into the water. Don’t mind the bitterness, God has a purpose in making that water cross your path!
“Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah.” Exodus‬ ‭15:23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
