One of the most fascinating facts about life is the fact that most of the things that we long for tend to take place at the last minute. Great breakthroughs take place when we are almost in the verge of giving up. Going through the scriptures reveals a God who is an expert in showing up ‘late’ in human terms. Many times He comes at the tail end. When God tested Abraham to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice, He remained quite throughout Abraham’s ordeal. God never showed up until the knife was headed to the throat of Isaac. God did not intervene when Abraham left home with his son, not even when they were climbing Mt. Moriah together with Isaac carrying the wood. He didn’t show up when serious Abraham had tied his son to kill him. God showed up only when Abraham had given up everything for God and the knife was ready. He came at the tail end. It’s in that last minute when you are about to fall off the cliff that God shows up. It’s when the gallows are finished and ready and when Haman is coming to ask for your head that God will intervene. If only we knew that God shows up when we are in the verge of giving up, then we would surrender everything to him. A walk with God entails total surrender! He is not moved by the panics of the in-between, He waits for us at the tail end. He controls the entire end of the spectrum from start to finish and it is when you reach your end that you find him. It’s when you resign your fate to the fire that He becomes the 4th man in your fire. Where are you looking for God in your in- between when He is waiting you at the far end? Where are you wishing God can intervene before the worst happens? What else is more important to you than God? The only way God can eliminate our alternatives is by waiting for us at the tail end when our plan B’s, C’s and D’s have failed. He shares his glory with no one! If He must be God at the beginning, then He has to be God at the tail end. Don’t fear the tail end! God is waiting there either to hold you or give you wings to fly if you fall off the cliff! His name is “The Lord is There”.
