It is common for people to ask for prayers from others when they are going through challenging moments. We feel strengthened by the prayers of others and their moral support. I also know of the many people who promise to pray and stand with you and fail to do it because they forget. The Scriptures gives the account of Jesus assuring Simon Peter that He had prayed for him. According to Jesus, Satan had made a request to sift Peter and indeed all disciples as wheat is sifted. Peter was not aware of such a test coming but the assurance that his master had prayed for him was comforting. Jesus did not pray that Peter will not go through the test but rather that his faith will not fail even as he went through the test. As we commence the month of June, we start the month with fear and anxiety over the many challenges we are facing due to Covid 19. We can face the month confidently in the assurance that God saw everything we are going through even before it came to be. Just like the case of Simon Peter, Jesus saw the test and the sifting before it came and because He lives to intercede for us, we shall not fail the test. Your neighbor may not understand your pain or the intensity of the suffering that you may be going through but you can take comfort in knowing that Jesus has already prayed for you. Your life and your faith is not going to collapse with Covid 19. It’s true it may affect your business, job, finances, family and loved ones but you can be assured that as many as have put their trust and confidence in God, they shall not be moved because Jesus has already prayed for you. Be strong and hold on to the rope of faith, you shall emerge out of this season more stronger and encouraged to encourage others because of the Lord who has prayed for you.
“But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Luke 22:32 NIV
