He is strong enough to carry you!

I always remember how we used to cross rivers when we were children. Those are the days when rivers were massive and having a bridge was a rare privilege. People used to test the depth of the river with a stick so that they could wade their way through or place the stump of a tree across the river and then balance to cross over. Someone, usually an adult had to test the waters for others or even test the strength of the tree stump otherwise the possibility of it giving way under the weight of a person was very high. This reminds me of the words of the scriptures assuring us that God will be the sure foundation of our times. We are living at a time when nothing appears stable anymore. The world has become chaotic and people are not sure about anything. How are believers in Christ expected to live or behave in such times. Just like someone used to test the river crossing for others, Jesus Christ has tested the waters for us. His words are timeless urging us not to let our hearts be troubled for He is in control. Covid 19 has brought with it massive disruptions where many people have lost their livelihood in the business front as well as in terms of jobs. A new normal has come up that will affect many even as we fear what other virus may be discovered. Add to these the plagues of endemic sicknesses and diseases, terrorism, war, crime, road carnage and many others which have left many people unsure of what to expect next. In a world where the only constant we have is change, we can find hope and stability in a God who changes not. Amidst all the chaos, He reigns supreme above all and is in absolute control! Where do you live in fear because of the scenario in the world today? Where do you find yourself anxious of where the world is headed to? Where do you often wonder what will happen to your children? He who carried the patriarchs of old, carried the apostles and none of his promises ever failed will carry us through. He did it, He is doing it and He will still do it in days to come. You can count on his faithfulness now and in days to come.
“He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.” Isaiah 33:6 NIV
