All human beings are born crying and the one thing that equalizes all of us is the fact that we all come into this life crying. I understand that if a baby does not cry at birth, the doctors must do everything necessary to get that first cry. That means that the first sound we make as we get into this world is a cry, which is a call for attention that we have arrived as part of the human race. It’s not surprising that crying is the one that connects us with God throughout life. Just like the way a baby cries to get the attention of its parents, God does not expect us to go through this life alone without crying to him. Prayer is the human cry that get God’s attention in life. The act of praying is one thing that reminds us that we are not in control but God is. There is a Sovereign God who is involved in the affairs of men and the beauty about him is that He is just a prayer call away. Prayer is the totality of our human groans to God. The Scriptures gives the story of the Israelites in Egypt and their crying and groaning which had reached God. This shows there is no cry that we make which is wasted. God pays attention to every prayer we make to him whether audible or not. He hears us when we groan about pain, injustice, sufferings, etc. The circumstances of the Israelites in their Egyptian bondage may not have made it possible for them to pray but God listened to their groans. What is burdening you today? What needs your Heavenly Father’s attention? Where has life lost meaning and you are tempted to give up? Stop going through life alone. You were never meant to. There is no greater joy than knowing that whatever troubles we go through, we have our Heavenly Father’s attention when we pray. Why not take some time aside today and cast whatever is burdening your beautiful soul into God’s care!
“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry;” Psalms 34:15 NIV
