Life is made of specifics and details are helpful. We don’t feel good when people generalize things. We want to know the specific balance we have in our account. We insist on the specific time or date a visit will take place. We want to know the specific time the service will start and end or the period a jail term will last. Life rotates around specifics. It’s unfortunate that many of us like generalizing when dealing with God. We rarely want to approach God on matters specific and most of our prayers fall into the category of generals. One day a servant cutting wood lost his precious axe head when it fell on River Jordan. In desperation he cried to prophet Elisha to intervene. Elisha’s response was specific to the point. Show me where it fell. God loves engaging with his children on specific areas of life. He wants us to ask for bread so that we receive bread and not a stone. God wants us to ask for fish so that we receive fish and not a snake. Where have you failed to be specific when speaking to God? Where are you guilty of being too general? Learn the beauty of specifics in you prayers today! You want an answer? Hit the Bulls eye. We serve a God of specifics.
