This is one of the most difficult words to use when offering comfort to someone. It becomes meaningless when it comes from people who do not understand the level of our pain or the real experience of whatever challenges we may be facing . The Scriptures says part of the reason we go through challenging and painful circumstances is so that we can manage to comfort people like us going through the same mess. Problems have a way of shaping and molding us to be able to stand with others and offer comfort. Our situation makes a difference when words of comfort come from someone who has shared our predicaments before. The Scriptures speaks of Jesus as being a man acquainted with grief. That means his understanding of the challenges we face is genuine. Where are you going through challenges which no one else can relate or seem to understand? You can take confidence that God understands it better than you do. Jesus understands all pains and can relate with all sorrows. You can draw the greatest comfort from the fact that He understands what no other man can understand!
“In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old.”Isaiah 63:9
