Quite often in life, we revere words that have been spoken by people who have authority over us. Words spoken by parents or other senior relatives haunt us even in their death as we try to avoid a ‘curse’! We hold them with reverence fearing the worst just incase we don’t tow the line. Many people today are living in fear of words spoken by their spiritual authorities. My bishop, my pastor or my prophet said this and that. Many of us live like slaves not enjoying the blessings of life because of the many ‘thou shalt not’ we must adhere to. It’s good to respect authority but any authority that does not explicitly emanate from the word of God should not terrorize us. When King Hezekiah was told he will die by prophet Isaiah, the message came with finality. This was a revered man of God and there was no joke about what he said. However King Hezekiah knew the source of all power. The Scriptures says he turned to the wall and petitioned the heavens! He sought a second opinion! He was told he will live and not die. Where are you living in fear of what people have spoken and you’ve lost your freedom? Where are you being misused and you are living in fear that you may be cursed? Petition the heavens! None can curse what God has blessed. Loosen yourself from human shackles and yes, turn to your wall! It’s okay to get a second opinion!
“Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.” Numbers 23:20 NKJV
