Routine is something all of us get used to. It makes us do things many times without thinking through them. Many of us can remember the many times we have promised people as a matter of routine that we shall pray for them only to forget about it immediately we leave their presence. Its a routine that feigns a caring heart as you assure someone that you’ll pray for them only to end up forgetting. The scriptures says that contrary to this human habit, Jesus do actually prays for us. The main job he does is to intercede for us. He assured Simon Peter even before he messed up, not that he will pray for him but that he had already prayed for him. Peter was about to betray him and guess what, Jesus knew about it and had already prayed for him. He did not pray for him not to do it, but that even with the failure, his faith would not fail. He just needed to trust the Lord’s assurance of prayer. How many of us could be going through agonizing moments oblivious of the fact that Jesus knew about it and already prayed for you? How many of us could be crushing ourselves with guilt because of something we did that betrayed our faith in God, without realizing that Jesus has already prayed for your recovery. Jesus is not like man who promises to pray but forgets immediately he leaves you, he prays for us even before we get into that mess, that problem or even temptation and has already figured out your recovery. Just arise from your mess, dust yourself up and follow him! Your best is not behind you, it’s where he is leading you!
“But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” Luke 22:32 NKJV
