We live in a physical world and it’s human to speak about the negatives and problems that we come across. We cannot bury our head in the sand and assume that everything is okay when things are not okay. We see with our eyes and we interpret things as we see them. However, faith in God calls on us to know that beyond the world of what we see, touch, smell, hear and taste, there is another world of the spiritual. Many things happen in the spiritual before they become evident in the physical. The scriptural account of the Shunammite woman who was blessed by God with a son through prophet Elisha is such an example. It reached a point where the boy became sick and died. There was no dispute to the fact that the boy was dead and the mother did not call that which is dead alive. She only held on to faith that the God of the promise who gave her the boy could reverse the irreversible. She refused to admit death and kept saying to herself and everybody she came across that it is well. She refused to confess what the enemy wanted her to confess and held on to faith in the God of Elijah. Only when she went on her knees before the man of God did she tell it as it was. The enemy of our faith would wish us to give up the confession of our faith but even when we cannot understand the reason behind our pain we can still stand and say it is well. The facts are negative yes and our situation may appear dead but we can afford to say it’s well. Perhaps nowhere else is this much needed like in our nation today. We are witnessing times of unprecedented corruption and increase of evil. As children of the one who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, we should make it our aim to only confess what is good. Our nation is blessed and the future of our children is bright. They can steal as much as they want since they have adequate force to protect them but be encouraged that they cannot steal your God. Let us speak hope amidst the despair in our nation and let us hold on to the confession that better days are ahead for our nation. It gets darker before dawn and we shall not sing the song that the devil wants us to sing. We can curse and get emotional but that won’t help. It will only rob us peace. Let us keep hope alive. Where is God asking you to confess faith even in the face of death? Where are you finding it difficult to hold on to the confession of your faith? What is so negative that you don’t see any positive coming out of it? You cannot avoid to see, to hear, to smell, to touch and to taste but you can avoid speaking negative conclusions over the same. You shall not die but live and proclaim the goodness of the Lord.
“Please run now to meet her, and say to her, ‘ Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?’ ” And she answered, “ It is well.”” II Kings 4:26 NKJV
