It’s not unusual as we go through life to compare our progress with that of others. Comparison is a main challenge that is known to breed envy, jealousy and discontentment. When we compare and realize we are doing better we feel warmer but anger and resentment gets into us if colleagues appear to be doing better than us. No wonder we are experts at blackening others so that we can appear whiter. When Jesus revealed to Peter what would become of him at old age, Peter was quick to ask Jesus what would become of the disciple John who was following them. People was not content with God’s design for him and the spirit of comparison came into play. Jesus was quick to tell Peter that he had no business wondering what would become of John. He made it clear that his business and also ours is just to follow him. Our fruitfulness will only reflect if we concern ourselves with following what God is doing in our lives without getting nosy what is happening in the lives of others. God has made it clear that, it’s not our business to be concerned about what is happening to others. We can only realize our full potential if we just follow him! Where are you tending to be over concerned about others? Do you lack sleep wondering what will become of your children should anything happen to you? Are you worried about your parents back at home? Live your life as God has revealed it to you! You came naked and naked shall you go back! All sheep whether mothers or little ones belong to God the owner! Your responsibility is to just follow!
“When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” John 21:21-22 NIV
