We serve a God of promises who brings his purposes and intents to pass through the promises contained in his word. When God gives a word, no matter what it takes, He will always bring his word to pass. However, He never promises that there will be no problems as we move towards the realisation of his promises. There is always one thing that is certain about God’s promised land; it is always located amongst your enemies. God promised the children of Isreal a land flowing with milk and honey. This was not a license for them to be lazy and careless waiting for the promised land to drop from above. There were wars to fight, giants to conquer and blood to shed to bring the promise to pass. As believers we need to know that there will always be our part to play as we journey towards realizing our promises. The beauty of it is that we don’t fight alone, God fights for us, but He fights through us! There will be enemies to fight, fears to conquer and challenges to endure before you take the promised land. We need to know that the presence of a problem is no evidence that it is not of God. This is why the promise may occasionally delay as God prepares you for the battles ahead! Where are you getting frustrated because there is a lot of opposition to something you’ve always trusted God for? Where are you feeling tempted to withdraw because the battle to your inheritance is intense? Hold on, you will not need to fight! Just trust the one who promised!
“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you,’’ 2 Chronicles 20:17a NIV
