It’s not unusual in life to find yourself living in conflict to God’s will. We are imperfect and quite often make decisions that are not in line with God’s purpose for us. We respond to fears, opinions of others, our own egos or lustful passions. What we need to know is that just like a parent doesn’t throw away a child who messes himself, we serve a God who loves to restore us into fellowship with him. The Prophet Jonah might have imagined death when their boat was rocked by storms, but God was pursuing him with life. When the storms rock our Tarshish bound boats, they are not there to destroy us, it’s God trying to reach out to us. Our God is an expert of creating meaning from our messes. We should never resign on ourselves. We serve a God of second, third and fourth chances. Where are storms hitting you hard on your boat to Tarshish? Where are you walking in outright disobedience to God? He won’t give up on you yet! He wishes you can recognize him in your storms of joblessness, failing business, failing marriage or maybe failing health. What must God do to get your attention? If you are careful to listen, you will hear his voice calling through the storm!
“Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” Acts 9:4 NKJV
