Many of us know what it means to have friends let down at the most crucial moments when their support is most needed. Convenient friends who will be there with you during sunshine moments but like a shadow disappear when the clouds of problems or challenges set it. It’s no wonder they say that trying moments are the best in revealing our friends. One of the main thing we remember during the trying moments of Jesus Christ is the very fact that His most trusted friends and indeed His inner circle forsook Him. The Scriptures gives the account of not only how Judas betrayed Him and Peter denied Him but all the others run away and forsook Him. Jesus was left to face His most difficult moments alone. The good news however is that angels appeared to strengthen Him. This means we are never alone in trying moments and God in His faithfulness will always seek ways to strengthen us. Jesus did not take the betrayal at face value and as we know,he sought the distraught disciples immediately after resurrection for reassurance and restoration. Jesus was forsaken that we may never suffer rejection from God. We can be sure that God will always be a present help in times of trouble. Who are you mad with because they let you down when you needed them the most? Who betrayed you and abused your trust? How could God be challenging you to reach out to them this Easter for reconciliation and restoration? It’s the nature of men to fall in moments of trouble but that does not necessarily mean they are bad. Reach out with a hand of friendship and assurance this Easter holiday!
