It’s natural for humans to associate pain and challenges with the devil. Everything that does not favor us or work towards our advancement we associate with Satan whereas everything we consider good and pleasant, we attribute it to God. I remember the days when testimonies in churches used to go; “Shetani ashindwe!! Ashindwe sana!” And the congregants would get ecstatic. We have the unhealthy tendency of seeing the devil in almost everything we consider negative. This is despite the fact that we believe God is in ultimate control of all spheres of life. What if God was to say to you this morning, ” My child, this thing you’ve been trying to run away from, to avoid, to rebuke, to send prayer requests for, etc, is from me. The Scriptures gives the account of King Rehoboam losing control of part of his kingdom. Solomon the father of Rehoboam had provoked God to anger with his falling away and life of idolatry that God decided to split the kingdom from him leaving him with a small portion. He did everything possible to regain control of the kingdom only for God to send a prophet to him telling him that He is the one who had done it. It’s not everything negative that comes from the devil. Before you rebuke it and call it all manner of names, remember it could be God doing it. How would this knowledge change your approach to the problems or challenges that you’ve been experiencing? What if you got to know that whatever pain you are battling today is from God and meant for your good or correction? God will often shut the doors we are fixated to so as to turn our attention where He wants us to go. If you are a believer, you are hidden in Christ who is in God, and you can rest assured what God has the devil cannot touch! Nothing will come your way that has not been filtered through your Father’s loving fingers! Are you tempted to think that the devil is having a field day over you? May you get to hear God say to you today – this thing thou uncomfortable, painful, and uncertain is still from me dear child!
“Thus says the LORD: “You shall not go up nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel. Let every man return to his house, for this thing is from Me.” Therefore they obeyed the word of the LORD, and turned back, according to the word of the LORD.” I Kings 12:24 NKJV
