We are living at a time when few people stand for anything. Many of us hold different opinions regarding many issues but few of us are convicted about anything. While an opinion is something we hold, a conviction is something that holds us. It’s the values we cherish and we cannot compromise and if need be we are willing to suffer for them. Many in our generation stands for nothing and as a result falls for anything. The scriptures story of Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego is something we cherish from our Sunday school days. It’s not only an account of courage and faith, it’s an account of convictions. The three boys had set their boundaries and they were not negotiable. Their value systems defined their lives and they could not stand a breach to their convictions. What values if any do you stand for? What convictions hold you and you can’t let go? Do you hold a position or are you just a people pleaser who changes with circumstances? They say every man has a price but God is calling on us to take a stand for what we believe in. We should go beyond expressing our opinions in social media to standing and if need be suffering for what we are convinced is right. Let’s stand our grounds and fight back when the walls of our convictions are breached!
“You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice.” Exodus 23:2 NKJV
