As humans, we have numerous limitations. There is a limit as to how much we can bear in situations. We are limited in our patience, our strength, our loving, our pain and in our effort. We always cave in when the pressure is too much or unbearable. The good news however is that God is not limited and knows about our limits. Our human end point is always the beginning point of God. When Abraham’s patient reached its lowest limit, he followed the advise of his wife Sarah, slept with Hagar and the result was Ishmael. Abraham had humanly speaking accomplished what the promise had failed to accomplish. How often do we use our own means to get things done when we consider God to have failed in his bargain? We get married backdoor when the front door won’t open. We get a business deal or a job opportunity underground where the door of Integrity takes long to open. All these we do because we are limited and if our hearts truly love God, It’s always a low moment when God comes visiting and finds us with Ishmael. I take comfort that God was not mad at Abraham when he found Ishmael. He intervened and didn’t allow the mess to frustrate his end plans. Where have you messed through impatient by failing to wait on God. Don’t run away from him. He is a God of another chance and can still meet with you in your mess. He is determined to fulfill his purpose concerning you.
“The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” Psalms 138:8 NKJV
