Life is progressive and we must condition ourself to its progressive nature. Life has no going back and we should appreciate that when we are over a season in life we can’t go back and fit again into it. After witnessing the apparent sad end of their ministry and with their leader now dead and buried, Peter told his colleagues it was time to go back fishing. The business of fishing men had gone terribly wrong and according to him, it was time to accept reality and go back to what they were best at. What they did not know is that, the fishing grace was long gone. It’s like trying to behave like a teenager when you are past that age and the grace is gone. It can’t work! God gives us different grace to serve different time dispensation and understanding this is crucial if we are to thrive in whatever season we are in. The waters and the fish knew they had moved on and refused to accept them again! Where are you trying to fit yourself again and that season is gone? What clothes are you trying to fit while you have overgrown them? The disciples were on a different season and the grace available was different. Where is God telling you that the fishing season is long over? Don’t be surprised that you are fairing terrible in an area you once thrived. God gives different grace for different time periods. You can’t attract any fish today, as your grace is that of fishing men. Trying to go back will just end in self frustration . Move on with life and embrace whatever season you are in! There is always grace enough for your current season! Life has very few going back options. When you are past a season, don’t waste valuable time and energy trying to recover it, embrace the new and let go of the old. Should you try, don’t be scared if the fish can’t accept you!
““I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.” John 21:3 NIV
